KendallHunt, a leading provider of educational educational products and services, partnered with Valuebound to develop a diet tracker tool to help university students become more aware of their dietary habits and to facilitate learning by requiring them to track their own food and water intake. The tool is an integral part of the health courses offered by universities where students are required to track their diet and have focused discussions around their health. The tool provides a dashboard with various types of reports, such as weekly and monthly reports of water consumption, as well as reports on calories consumed, carbs, protein, fat, and micronutrients.
The main challenge faced by KendallHunt and Valuebound was to develop a scalable and reliable tool that could handle a large number of users and data. The tool needed to be able to log food and water intake, physical activities, and generate detailed reports. In addition, the tool needed to be secure and easy to use for both students and teachers.

To address these challenges, Valuebound developed the diet tracker tool and deployed it on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using EC2, RDS, auto scaling, and S3. EC2 provided scalable computing capacity in the cloud, while RDS provided a managed database service for storing and retrieving data. Auto scaling was used to automatically adjust the number of EC2 instances based on the workload, and S3 was used for storing and retrieving files.
The diet tracker tool allows students to create their health profile by updating biometrics, log their food and water intake, and physical activities. They can view reports for different time periods, such as weekly and monthly reports of water consumption, as well as detailed reports on calories consumed, carbs, protein, fat, and micronutrients. The reports can be submitted to instructors for evaluation purposes.
Teachers can view reports submitted by students, which are searchable based on course and student name. Administrators have full access to application configuration, and can add specific courses in the application that are available to students of the respective course only.
By developing and deploying the diet tracker tool on AWS, Valuebound was able to provide a scalable, reliable, and secure tool for promoting student awareness of their dietary habits and facilitating learning.
The tool has been well-received by both students and teachers, and has helped to enhance the student experience in the health courses offered by universities. With the help of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, auto scaling, and S3, the diet tracker tool has been able to handle a large number of users and data without compromising on performance or security.
